Young+Richards architectural practice operates between the worlds of architecture, interiors, retail, master planning, project delivery and development.
Established in 2007, Young+Richards commenced as a design studio bringing together the collective experience of Elvon Young, Harriet Pilkington (nee Richards), and the late Bruce Stephen Young.
Today, Harriet and Elvon are joined by Toby and Iona who collaboratively lead a team of approximately 50, which is split between a design studio producing bespoke high-end architecture, interiors, development consultancy and visualisation services, and our project delivery studio which specialises in systemised documentation and roll out (the practice achieves approval for over 200 Building Consents annually on average).
Young+Richards uniquely combines a passion for the detail of the interior environment as well as large scale exterior and master planning projects, with specialist ability in roll out of systemised architectural documentation.
A human focus on the small scale and attention to detail is borne out in residential, retail, commercial and healthcare projects which showcase passion for materials and interior space.
Alongside this the practice focuses on sensitive cultural and sustainable projects involving communities – relevant projects include Earthship, Sustainable Master planning in Fiji, The Auckland Racing Club Stables development, The Dunedin Chinese Garden, education facilities for AUT University, innovative ‘Green’ Facade Systems for Residential Towers in Taipei, Taiwan and a number of diverse local projects throughout New Zealand.
